You can learn how to:
· Stock and inventory prescriptions and over-the-counter medications.
· Maintain written or computerized patient medication records.
· Count or pour medications into dispensing containers.
· Manage the cash register/or billing
· Assemble a 24-hour supply of medication for each patient.
· Re-package medications
· Prepare commercially unavailable medications.
· Deliver medications to patient rooms.
· Establish and maintain patient profiles.
· Prepare insurance claim forms.
This UMA diploma program can be completed in as few as 10 months. Coursework focuses on preparing you with the industry-relevant skills sought by today's employers.. For example:
· In Drug/Dosage Interaction and Pharmacy Law and Ethics, students learn the purposes, actions, side effects, precautions and significant interactions of major drug classes with special attention on dosage forms and commonly used drug names.
· In Pharmacy Technician Externship, students (in cooperation with participating local, registered pharmacists) are assigned to a specific pharmacy lab and serve 180 hours practicing the responsibilities and duties of a pharmacy technician.

Train for your career as a Pharmacy Technician in under a year on ground & online
At Ultimate Medical Academy, Pharmacy Technician training program offers a stimulating mix of classroom and laboratory training followed by a hands-on externship in a real pharmacy, working with actual patients. You’ll learn drug dosage and interaction, pharmacology, pharmacy law and more.
Upon graduation, you’ll receive a diploma and be eligible for registration as a pharmacy technician. UMA offers additional test preparation classes that prepare students to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) offered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Technicians who pass the PTCE are granted the title of Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
Following completion of your externship, UMA’s Career Services department will work with you to find job opportunities that fit your skills and goals, either at their externship location or with one of our many partners in the healthcare field.
